CUSCO INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU

 

Departure : All year (except February).

Duration : 6 days / 5 nights .

Tourism type : Archaeological and Adventure Trips.

       

ITINERARY 

Day one : Arrive to Cusco - City tour and Sacsayhuaman Park.

Transfer from the airport( Velasco Astete) to your hotel. We begin our tour visiting the cathedral. It  was built between 1560 and 1654 on the site of the palace of the Inca Wiracocha. It's a magnificent example of European art made by the indigenous population. Main altar is completely covered in silver, and  the church contains in its interior many fine paintings from the religious art School  of Cusco . After seen the beauty of our cathedral we move on to Qoricancha temple , it is also known as temple of the sun, Here we will be able to see some of the finest remaining examples of Inca stone masonry.You will be able to explore this ancient Inca sanctuary with its boundless monolithic walls built from stones, that weight about 50 tons each one, but the interesting part is that all join perfectly. Sacsaywaman witnessed great events such as bloodshed during the siege of Cusco at the time of the conquest. Later on we visit the amphitheatre at Qenqo, the fortress of Puka Pukara and  Inca baths in Tambomachay

 

Day two :  Cusco - Km 82 - Pisqaccucho - Huayllabamba

Tourist transportation from  Cusco city to KM 82,(40 minutes in bus), 5 hours of trek by Pisqaccucho, Urubamba River, Llacta Pata and Campsite in Huayllabamba  (9,850 ft.). Lunch and dinner.

 

Day three : Huayllabamba  - Waymiwańuska - Pacaymayo

From Huayllabamba, climb to the highest part of Warmiwańuska is the objective in this day journey ,  Warmiwańuska over  pass the (13,900 ft.)) here we have, panoramic view of Huayanay mountains and the Vilcabamba range. After the  wonderful view we descend to the campsite in Pacaymayo(10,990 ft.)

 

Day four : Pacaymayo - Phuyupatamarca - Wińaywayna

Today we have  important archaeological Incas sites, departure of Pacaymayo to Runkuraqay pass (13,000 ft.) continue to Sayacmarca ruins; and descend to Phuyupatamarca (11,450 ft.) from this point the mountain range of Vilcabamba can be appreciated (where   the snowed  Salcantay emphasizes 20,000 ft.) Finally  a 2 hour descends  by cloud forest to are next point. Wińaywayna (9,800 ft.) and our campsite. Later on  explore to Wińaywayna Inca Site.

 

Day five : Wińaywayna - Intipunku  - Machu Picchu - Cusco

5 a.m. Easy morning walk to Intipunko the Gate of  Sun, here we have our  first view of Machu Picchu , we descend  the last portion, and arrive to the citadel; here a guided tour around the “Lost City of the Incas”, when we finish  exploring Machu Picchu , we return in  bus  to Machu Picchu town (Aguas Calientes), late afternoon. Return to Cusco by train. Transfer to hotel.

 

Day six  : Cusco out

At scheduled  hour, Transfer from the hotel to  the airport.

 

End of the program.
