The Alternative Inca Trail to Machupicchu
Mollepata - Salkantay - Santa Teresa Due to restrictions imposed to the classic Inca Trail over the past few years, new alternative routes and paths to Machu Picchu have been explored. One of these routes runs through Salkantay (6271m), a peak surrounded by the mountains Umantay, Sacsar and others more . On a two-hour hike along a paved road, Sun rise experience, the first sun rays reflected over the snowcapped peak. This five-day journey will let us enjoy, spectacular sceneries similar to those in the Inca Trail, the only difference is that trail is almost new not often used route.

Day one : CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMAPA Early (4:30 am) bus transfer from the hotel to Mollepata town , here we start our adventure, We arrive approximately at( 8:30 am) to Mollepata. After a four intensive hour trek, admiring the boundless variety of flora and fauna we arrive to Silcakancha. After lunch, we continue three more hours until we arrive to Soraypampa. Have dinner and, overnight.
Day two : SORAYPAMPA - COLPABAMBA Early wake-up. After a delicious breakfast we leave Soraypampa (3400m). And cross to 4650m above sea level , where we admire the beautiful Andean mountains (oxygen, and first-aid kit available in case of emergency). While we contemplate the beautiful surroundings, we start descending the mountain, for later stop and have lunch and, short rest. Then we continue to Colpabamba, our campsite. Please take proper precautions because this is a tropical zone, mosquitos are everywhere. Dinner and overnight.
Day three : COLPABAMBA – PLAYA Early wake-up (6:45 am) and breakfast. We spend our day crossing bridges, admiring exotic flora and fauna; we reach Lluscamayu and stop for lunch. A two-hour hike and we arrive to La Playa, the little village selected for our campsite. Dinner and overnight. Day four : LA PLAYA - AGUAS CALIENTES After breakfast, we get on a truck and head to the town of Santa Teresa, here we find an oroya (its made from ropes an wood is a basquet) this artifacts will take us to the other side of the river. We take again a truck and drive to the hydroelectric , here we have lunch and free time to spare while we wait for the train that will take us to Aguas Calientes (30 minutes). Dinner. And your Last night at a comfortable hostel.
Day five : UP TO MACHU PICCHU Right after breakfast we take a bus up to the Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, in a two hour guided visit to the ruins and free time to explore them on your own. return to the town by bus.
